And now for something completely different

I’m not big on Horror these days. I used to be, when I was kid. In fact, for about four years or so it was all I’d read. Now though, the only time I dip into the Horror section is where zombies are concerned.

I love ‘em! They’re my guilty pleasure. Games, films, books, I’m there. My all-time favourite Zombie series is, predictably, Mira Grant’s Newsflesh trilogy. If you’ve not indulged, you’ve missed a rare treat I promise you. It’s a good one for folk who aren’t even into zombies, but like a good thriller with a political twist and a shedload of action. Wonderful stuff.

But I digress. The one Big Zombie Title that I’ve somehow never got around to, is Max Brooks’ World War Z, but thanks to a lovely work colleague it was perched on my desk this morning, and was in fact the carrot that got me through the day. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this one, and am really looking forward to getting into it. As I understand it, the film is set to be complete pants, but the book is a bucketful of genius. Well, isn’t that always the way?

I’m finding myself more than a little swamped with review copies already, which I never expected so early into the blog. It’s great, but I can already see how it can overwhelm! Once I’ve finished Trickster though, I’m going to grant myself a little holiday and cosy up with some Apocalyptic Awesome :) I will, of course, report back. ..
